ABOUT

Nobel-prize winning Physicist Murray Gell-Mann once remarked that modern science education is like being taken to the world’s greatest restaurant and being fed the menu. Students are only being shown representations of ideas and told about great discoveries rather than being helped to learn deeply for themselves.

Rossum Academy aims to create a new generation of engineers, designers and inventors by giving students the opportunity to understand science, technology and engineering through exploration.

We are aimed at children from 6 - 18, instilling a love for science and engineering by making learning a great amount of fun. Our core focus is robotics as it combines design, problem solving and team-work with concepts in mathematics, science and technology. But we also offer courses in everything from Physics to 3D game creation.

We believe in the principles of discovery based learning, problem based learning, peer-to-peer learning and life-long learning. We allow students to explore and discover on their own but also provide a solid grounding in the underlying theory. We make use of a rich variety of tools and equipment and we actively develop high quality learning content.

Students at Rossum Academy

The Rossum team of Neels van der Westhuizen, Theron Burger and Dirk Visser have a great passion for education, innovation and technology. Not satisfied with eating the menu they constantly try out ‘new dishes’ and are very happy to share their recipes with other hungry-for-learning students.
